Dental debridement is a procedure by which plaque and calculus (tartar) that have accumulated on the teeth is removed using scalers. it happens when a typical cleaning isn’t enough to evaluate the health of your teeth. Supragingival plaque is the plaque above your gums and a debridement procedure helps remove it.

Periodontal disease, or gum disease, is a chronic bacterial infection that damages the gums and bone supporting the teeth, which eventually leads to tooth loss if not treated.  Other more serious health problems have been associated with periodontal infection, such as cardiovascular disease, diabetes and pre-term, low-birth-weight babies. A deep cleaning is required to remove calculus and tartar build up below you gum (subgingival). We use a Piezo-electric ultrasonic scaler, which offer unique benefits over other kinds of scalers. They operate at a slightly higher frequency, require less water to control heat and vibrate less, has a sensitive mode, which achieves optimal patient comfort when removing plaque, calculus and more.

Indications of periodontal disease include:  swollen, painful, or bleeding gums, bad breath, and loose or sensitive teeth.  Unfortunately, periodontal disease is not always obvious.  Bacterial infection may be silently and progressively destroying the soft tissues and bone that support the teeth, without any noticeable pain.

We do only composite, or white, fillings. The composite resin filling material is available in many shades to closely match the natural color of your tooth. It’s almost impossible to tell visually that there’s even a filling there! Besides being aesthetically pleasing, white composite fillings are more conservative in that silver amalgam fillings require a larger area of the tooth be removed. While white fillings are 100% safe and nontoxic, amalgam fillings are known to release low levels of mercury vapor. It not at a high enough level to be toxic, but it’s still potentially harmful.
